One Year Ago Today

One year ago today we found out that we were pregnant...on my birthday. The best present ever! I can remember thinking ahead to my next birthday and wondering about who that sweet little baby would be...thinking about how he/she would be about 3 months old. It was fun "dreaming" about it & now it's already here. I can't believe how quickly time flies. I know I've said this before; but it really does!! It has always amazed me to remember a small fraction of time in the past where I wondered about a certain event in the future. We go about our daily lives and suddenly we are there in that very moment we wondered about. And whether we were worried or not God always has it figured out and everything turns out...just right.

Madeline's Baptism

It will be exactly one year (Sept. 21) since we moved to the area. We tried a few churches until we found the one we are at now. It just fit and we've been enjoying it ever since. The people there are wonderful and we've felt like "members" since day one. We officially became members yesterday and Madeline was baptized. It was a wonderful day. Jake's brother Jon was able to come....sadly everyone else was either sick, out of town or super-pregnant...we forgive you all and won't make you feel too bad about missing out :)

I forgot my camera so we didn't get any pictures during the baptism but we did get a few after we got home.

The Taco Bell Lady Thinks I'm A Bad Mom...

So yesterday the girlies and I were out and about running errands. It was after 12 when we were on our way back home, but Madeline decided she was hungry again and couldn't wait until we got home (about 15 minutes). So I pulled into a parking lot and fed her. While feeding her I got a brilliant idea.......I'll just get us some Taco Bell and then I won't have to make lunch at home!! Once Madeline was done I drove to Taco Bell. She was happy until I got into the drive-thru line. Just great.....now I'm stuck in line with 4 or 5 cars in front of me and another couple of cars behind me and no way out! She wasn't just fussing here and there either. It was the all out, red-faced, not breathing, I'm freaking out sort of cry. So I reached back and brought her up front with me. At this point I had already ordered and was only two cars away from the window. So I get up to the window and the lady tells me the amount and then notices Madeline in my arms. I had her standing on my lap, facing backwards and she was obviously happy. This was our conversation:

TB Lady: "You should leave your baby here with us."
Me: "Why?"
TB Lady: "Oh, so we can play with her."
Me: "She's only out of her carseat because she was crying. I'm going to go park and put her back in."
TB Lady: "Yeah, oh and she's cute, too."
Me: "I'm going to go park right there."
TB Lady: "Just be careful. Don't let the cops see you."

WHAT?? At first this bugged me, but now I just think it is funny.

the face she made at the Taco Bell Lady...just kidding

The Talley Family Petting Zoo is now open!

Come one come all!!
When you first visit the Talley Family Petting Zoo we encourage you to stop across the street where the two goats and sheep are located. The goats are quite friendly but you must watch out for the black one; he likes figs so much he'll head-butt your hand just ask my father-in-law. The white goat will eat just about anything but the black one doesn't care much for apples.

The sheep is very dumb and looks quite evil. I didn't realize that they had such long necks. This little guy who happens to be named Tyson after Mike Tyson puts his head as close to the ground as he can get it and stares up at you thus making him look evil. Apparently the owner names all of his sheep after boxers and this happens to be his 3rd one. Foreman and Muhammad were the other two. Interesting, very interesting. Twice now I've been getting out of the car and nearly jumped out of my skin because the sheep lets out this low but loud moan that sounds more like a sick cow than a sheep.

As far as farm-like animals go that is all we have. Unless you'd like to track down the rooster that cock-a-doodles every morning at 5:30am or the pit bull who frequents our neighbors across the street with his owner daily.

Moving inside now you will most likely find a few roly-polys, an earwig or two, small flying beetles, moths and the occassional house spider. All of these I can handle.

I can even handle two of these little guys running around in Delia's room (I'll share that story later)

or this little guy climbing on my wall

But then when you're going about your business and you happen upon one of these spiders shown above times oh I don't know let's say about five; that my friends is where I draw the line and call Jake!!

This "little" gal was hanging out in my closet. I was putting clothes away and had just hung something up right next to where she was sitting. That's when I saw something move and about peed my pants!! I called Jake and he came home from work early to get her. There was no way that I was going to let that thing roam around the house or my bedroom any longer. I wanted to make sure Jake caught her before we all went to bed! So Jake got home and started carefully taking everything out of the closet because at this point I didn't know exactly where the spider was. It ended up on the last piece of clothing hanging in the very back of the closet. Jake then put an empty Rubbermaid container underneath the sweatshirt and proceeded to shake the shirt until the spider crawled down the sleeve and was relatively close to the bucket. That is when he hit it with a hanger and then covered it with a small bucket. When he covered it it was still alive but when we took the container outside and removed the bucket we noticed some yellow goo all over and the spider was dead. I'm sad to say that I wasn't sad...is that bad?

I'm already looking forward to our next move....hmm I wonder why!

Admission to the Talley Family Petting Zoo is free!!

Wednesday, September 3

Did I say Monday...I meant Wednesday...night!

Friday the 15th we started our move. Jake took the day off and we used the eight or so boxes left over from one of the moves and filled them up and loaded them into the car. We met our landlords, signed papers, got keys and gave them their money. Then Jake brought the boxes in and we dumped them out in their designated rooms. Then we put the empty boxes in the car and headed back to the old house. You may think this is a strange way to move...it is. But it also helped us get moved in....because we had to. You don't know how many boxes went months without unpacking in past moves. The only reason we decided to do this was because we didn't want to buy more boxes...

This was basically our strategy the whole time. Fill them up and empty them out...over and over again. We had a lot of help from our brothers; Jon (Jake's brother), Josh (my brother) and Tyler (our brother-in-law). We did rent a U-Haul truck and that was a BIG help. The guys filled it up and emptied it three times. Yes, you are right we have too much stuff. Thanks guys. We really appreciate your help and we'd probably still be moving stuff if it hadn't been for you three!

I mentioned the other day that my mom came and helped us get a ton of stuff done. Like organizing my craft stuff....we are a lot alike my mom and I....we like to save things....crafty things....because someday we'll use them...right mom? I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I have a laundry room...a rather large laundry room. Jake made me a "table" so that I can fold laundry on it. Under this table is a storage system full of my craft stuff. So essentially the table can be used for crafting as well as folding. YEAH! Who would have thought these things could make me so happy?

I took pictures during the move but I currently don't know where they are. Maybe on the other computer. If there is anything worth showing I'll do that later for now here are a few recent pictures from the last few weeks.
